Issues : Errors in FE

b. 14

composition: Op. 63 No. 2, Mazurka in F minor

g1 in As & FE2 (→EEW)

f1 in FE1 (→GE)

..

The change of g1 to f1 in FE1 (→GE) must be a mistake. It was corrected in FE2 (→EEW).

composition: Op. 63 No. 2, Mazurka in F minor

 in As & GE3

No mark in FE (→GE1,GE2,→EEW)

Our variant suggestion

..

The missing mordent in FE (→EEW,GE1GE2) is most probably an oversight, which is indicated by the presence of  in As and by a comparison with analogous bars 18, 26 and 30. The mordent was added in GE3, most probably to standardise the version of these 4 bars. In the main text we suggest it in a variant form.

b. 38

composition: Op. 63 No. 2, Mazurka in F minor

g in chords in As, FE2 (→EE) & GE3

No g in FE1 (→GE1GE2)

..

The version of FE1 – the 2nd and 3rd crotchets without g – could have been temporarily considered by Chopin. According to us, however, it is more likely that we are dealing with an oversight, which was then corrected in FE2. Both notes were added in GE3, probably on the basis of a comparison with FE2.
